The Ming and the Manchus:  A Walk and Discussion at the Forbidden City

Date: Sunday, September 4th
Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Cost: 300 RMB, 260 RMB for members (includes all admission tickets and entrance fees)

A fun and informative walk and discussion of Chinese imperial history at Beijing’s majestic Forbidden City including areas just opened at the end of last year. Not your usual history tour, we combine Forbidden City fun facts, stories, pop culture references, and examples from the archives to bring to life the palace. Along the way, we will discuss the two empires who ruled from behind the high red walls of the Forbidden City and how their legacies continue to shape China today.

Trip Advisor says….

“The best tour ever. Ever. Ever. Having lived in China for over 8 years, I’ve had my fair share of tours around China. But yesterday’s tour of The Forbidden City with The Hutong just blew everything else out of the water. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about local Beijing history and Chinese history in general and was wonderfully friendly and confidently answered all of our questions….”

“In a country that boasts over 5,000 years of history, a tour of this magnitude could easily be overwhelming, or worse, boring. Jeremiah gave an easy to follow overview filled with a ton of fun facts without sacrificing the information that has shaped Beijing as a city today. My parents had a wonderful experience and appreciated their time in the capital so much more as a result.”

Please note: The Forbidden City requires “real name registration” for all visitors. Guests on this walk will need to bring their passports, shenfenzheng 身份证, or other form of national photo ID.

Book-Now

Spaces for this walk are limited and registration is required. Details about the walk including meeting points and payment information will be included in your registration confirmation.
